Today (June 30, 1919) is the Memorial Day of John William Strutt, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics for his discovery of the rare gas argon.
John William Strutt (3rd Baron Rayleigh) was born on 12 November 1842 in Longford Grove, Essex, England. Born the eldest son, his father was the second Baron Raleigh. He is a farmer and landowner. San Strutt was interested in mathematics from a young age. As a boy, his health often deteriorated. At the age of ten, he had to receive his early education at a health center located at the school. He then attended a private school for three years. He continued his education for a few years in the warmth of a priest named Warner.
In 1861 he attended Trinity College. He received the training of the best teacher, Edward J. Ruth. His training also laid the foundation for his interest in science. Stokes, a Lucasian mathematics professor, gave occasional lectures at the college. Raleigh was fascinated by the fact that he did some research and explained between lectures. He was fascinated by Stokes' research scenarios in a situation where students could not do research on their own at the time. Later, when he became a great scientist, Stokes revealed how he was fascinated.
In 1864 he received a scholarship from the Department of Astronomy. In 1865 he became the first student to pass the Triball examination. With that Sumit also won the prize. In 1865 he read with interest the study of electromagnetic theory published by the scientist Maxwell. He took important ideas related to it for his study. He also used his research on the "acoustic resonator" written by Helm Holtz in 1860.
In 1866 he was elected a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge. During the same period, he toured the United States. He did not need to be involved in any work in his life. Returned from the United States. He bought various tools for his scientific research and set up his own laboratory at Darling (Darling), where his family farm is located. Calvana undertook the study of the meter. In 1868 he announced his decision at a meeting of the English Society.
In 1871 Rayleigh published his theory of scattering. His policy was to make the sky look blue. In 1872 he was struck by a severe fever. He then had to spend his life in Egypt and Greece. In 1873 he returned to his hometown. Then his father passed away. So the responsibility of maintaining the 7600 acres of land fell on his head. His education in general sciences was a stimulus in many ways to the agricultural knowledge he received in the workshop. He became "Third Baron Raleigh". In 1876 he left the responsibility to his brother and resigned.
In 1877 he published the first volume of his book, Theory of Sound, which was scientifically researched and written by him. In it, he wrote a description of the mechanics of the vibrating medium that produces sound. The following year he wrote and published a second volume on the movement of sound waves. Who discovered a rare gas called argon. He was awarded the 1904 Nobel Prize for his study of the densities of gases and his discovery of argon gas. His 'Raleigh principle' of scattering of light was the perfect explanation for why the sky is blue. Standardized unit of Ohm. Nobel laureate San William Strutt passed away in England on June 30, 1919, at the age of 76.
