Small satellite flying on NASA rocket: Tamil Nadu Government College Physics students record.
The small satellite, discovered
by college students, is to be launched at NASA space site.
BSc in Physics, Government
College, Karur, Second Year Students in Physics Adnan, Arun and Kesavan, a
second-year student of ECE, Coimbatore Private Engineering College, Tennilai,
Karur district, has teamed up to design the small satellite. Currently, the
satellite is being launched from the NASA space site.
Regarding this, the students
said:
NASA has teamed up with the Space Center and the Eye Touling Organization to run a space exploration competition called 'Cube in Space'. It is attended by more than 20,000 students from 73 countries. For the past two years, when participating in this competition, I have not been selected for the final round.
As we continued to engage in
research, we designed a new satellite, made of carbon polymer material, 100
times stronger than iron, weighing 64 grams, 3 cm in circumference. Named the
'Indian Sate', the world's smallest satellite. The required 3.3 volts of power
can be obtained from solar cells on the surface of the satellite. It is
equipped with 13 sensors that can detect a wide range of information from
space. Learn about the nature of the cosmic rays that occur in the rocket.
Research on the instrument was last started in 2018 and will be completed in 2020. This year we participated in the Cube in Space competition with the help of professors from the Department of Physics, Government College, Space Kids India. Of these, to be launched into space by NASA, this instrument has been selected. The 'Indian Sate' satellite will be launched into space in June 2021 from NASA's SR, -7 rocket. Thus, they said.
