Today (January 17, 1706) is the birthday of Benjamin Franklin, the American scientist who discovered the most important lightning rod in the history of physics.
Benjamin Franklin was born on
January 17, 1706, in Boston, USA. He was the tenth of 17 children. His father
made and sold soap and candles. Franklin could not be sent to school because of
family poverty because of the large family. Franklin, who went to school for
less than a year, began writing poetry at the age of seven. Although he did not
go to school, he learned four languages in the time he had to help his
father's business. Franklin was naturally involved in reading texts. It was his
character that later gave him the courage to write the Declaration of
Independence of the United States.
Because of his interest in
reading, he joined his Brother James' printing press. There he learned to print
and enjoyed reading all the books that came to print. He also could write because he read a lot. He then left home and moved to Philadelphia due
to depression with his brother. There he became involved in the printing
industry and started his own printing company. Wrote a lot in American
magazines. His fame began to spread across the country. In 1720 Franklin bought
the Pennsylvania Gazette and accepted responsibility for it. Four years later
he started a magazine called Poor Richard's Almanack. It was this magazine,
which came out in a very different style that brought him wealth and great
fame.
He made innovations in the
printing industry and was eager to invent something new. He invented a stove
that could provide much heat with less fuel. He also started making and selling
them. He said that if crops are artificially fertilized, they will thrive.
Although initially ignored, the world slowly understood the truth behind it.
Synthetic fertilizers are still used around the world. The researcher on
electricity found that there is electricity even in lightning. Graduation study
demonstrated that electricity is attracted by sharp edges as well as lightning.
He invented the lightning rod to protect
buildings from lightning. Franklin's invention of the bifocal lens, the only
mirror for the elderly to have nearsightedness and nearsightedness. He never
patented all his inventions. His idea is that when we benefit from the
inventions of others, we should consider it beneficial for others to benefit
from our inventions. He made a great contribution to the field of science by
highlighting the importance of paper money and increasing its circulation. Introduced
to the world the method of buying and reading books by subscription. He made
many changes to the postal service in Philadelphia and created many of the
policies that the modern postal service follows.
In 1730 he introduced to the
world the marvellous project of a mobile library. He subsequently formed the
first fire insurance company in the United States. He dreamed of establishing
an educational institution. It was during his time that the dream came true. He
founded the University of Pennsylvania in 1749, one of the most famous American
universities in the world today. Franklin founded America's first hospital two
years later. The government wanted to use Franklin because he was a good
thinker and honest. He also served in various capacities as a legislator,
diplomat and ambassador. He used his political savvy to enlist the help of
France to liberate the United States from slavery under British colonial rule.
The UK bowed before France and the United States, who valued him highly.
The United States gained
independence. George Washington, elected President of the United States in
1789, entrusted the great task of drafting the Constitution of the United
States to a committee consisting of Benjamin Franklin. The constitution that
was formed under his supervision still guides the United States today. Many of
the mottos uttered by Benjamin Franklin are still frequently used by many
speakers today. If you want to be memorable even after death, either write
great works or live a meaningful life to the extent that others write about
you. He is considered one of the most important scientists in the history of
physics for his discoveries and ideas in electronics. They also stressed the
need for a reformed system in American English spelling. He was a great success
in the four fields of business, science, literature and politics.
At a young age, he was poor
without a penny in hand and from the age of forty, he was rich in printing and
journalism. Franklin was one of the three who prepared and signed the American
Declaration of Independence. The United States issued the first two postage
stamps since independence. One is a picture of George Washington, the first
president of the United States. Another featured a picture of Benjamin
Franklin. Benjamin Franklin, the inventor of the lightning rod, died in
Pennsylvania on April 17, 1790, at the age of 84. His body was buried with
government honours. About twenty thousand people paid their last respects to
him.
