Today (March 3, 1839) is the birthday of Jamsetji Tata, the father of the modern Indian industry, a legal expert and a political thinker who started the Tata Group.
Jamshedji Nasarwanji Tata
(Jamshedji Tata) was born on March 3, 1839, in Nawazwari, a small town in
southern Gujarat, to his son Jeevanbhai Tata. Tata became the first
businessman in the Parsi Zoroastrian family. Had Nasserwanji chosen the family
patriarchy, it would have been a regular one. But Tata, a sturdy young man,
became the first man in his family to break the tradition. He started his
business in today's (Bombay) Mumbai.
Jamshedjee, who came to Mumbai
with her father at the age of 14, completed her 'Green Scholar' equivalent to
today's Bachelor's Degree at Tata Elphinstone Calvary. While he was still a
student, he married a woman named Hirabai Tabu. He graduated from Calvary in
1858 and joined himself in the mercantile business where his father worked. At
that time it was a turbulent period suppressed by the British government,
regarded as the Indian revolutionaries of 1857. The Tata Group was founded by
Jamshedji Tata during British rule in 1868. The Tata Group is now the sole
authority to regulate the Tata Group.
Jamshedji Tata, who started the
Tata Group from 1868 to 1904, was the chairman. Ratan Tata took over after
Dorab Tata, Nawroji Chakladwala and Jahangir Ratoji Tata. He had many social
outlooks beyond his career. The key is to support the development of education.
He started a school as early as 1886 when the business began to profit. The
Tata Company also opened Star Hotels in 1903.
He led his group to stand on the
sidelines of World War II, the Indian Independence Movement, India's Great
Rift, the Challenges and Needs of Free India. He also confirmed the
participation of the Tata Group in the dream of India. He is credited with
supporting Homi Baba, India's first nuclear power project. With the efforts of
JRT Tata, the Tata Group was established in various industries such as Tata
Chemicals in 1939, Tata Motors in 1945, Tata Industries in 1954, Tata Tea in
1962, Tata Consultancy Services in 1968, Titan Industries in 1984 and Titan
Industries in 1984.

and the Netherlands, for $ 12 billion. Next was the acquisition of Britain's
famed Tetley Tea. Tata Group has acquired 23 foreign companies, 16 small and
major, over the past 16 years.
Shamshatji Nusserwanji Tata is the
fastest river in the country. But when he did not cooperate, he passed away on
May 19, 1904, in his 65th year of ill health. Jamshedji Tata is still hailed for
his efforts as the father of modern Indian industry. Tata Group Trust, one of
India's leading private enterprises, said it would donate Rs 500 crore to the
Prime Minister's Public Relief Fund for coronation prevention. In addition,
Tata Group alone has announced a Rs 1,000 crore fund for the Prime Minister's
General Relief Fund.
