Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi was born on October 28, 1955, in Chennai to a Tamil family. He completed his schooling at Holy Angels AIHSS in Chennai. He received his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry in 1974 from Christian College, Chennai. He also holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. Nooyi's career in India began as a product manager at Johnson & Johnson and the clothing company Mettur Beardcell. In 1978 he joined the Yale Institute of Management and received a master's degree in public and private management. After graduating in 1980, Nooyi joined the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). He also held project-related positions at Motorola and Asia Brown Bowery. 

Nooyi is also a member of the PepsiCo Board of Directors. Nooyi also serves as a member of the International Rescue Team, Catalyst and the Lingolan Center for the Performing Arts. He is a Continuing Analyst at Yale Corporation and a Board Member of the Trustees of Eisenhower Fellowships and currently serves as Chairman of the US-Indian Business Council. In 2007, he was nominated for the Padma Vibhushan by the Government of India. In 2008, he was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Nooyi joined PepsiCo in 1994. He then became chairman and CFO in 2001.

                               

Nooyi has been managing its company’s global program for over ten years. He also spearheaded PepsiCo's restructuring, including the 1997 transfer of its restaurant sales to Dragon. Trigon is now known as Yum Brands. In 1998, Quaker took over the primary responsibility for the acquisition of Tropicana and the merger with Oats. The company was also acquired by PepsiCo from Corporate. In 2007, he became the fifth CEO of PepsiCo in its 44 - year history. Business executives are amazed at his deep guiding ability and heartfelt hard work and fun. Since he took over as chief financial officer in 2000, the company's annual revenue has increased by 72 percent, according to BusinessLeague. Its net profit more than doubled in 2006 to $ 5.6 billion.

Nooyi was named to the Wall Street Journal's list of 50 notable women published in 2007 and 2008. He was also named one of Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2007 and 2008. Forbes magazine named her the 3rd most powerful woman in 2008. The Global Supply Chain Leaders Group has named Indira Nooyi as the Best CEO of 2009. When she was CEO of PepsiCo in 2008, Indira Nooyi earned a total salary of $ 14,917,701. This includes a base salary of $ 1,300,000, a bonus of $ 2,600,000, shares issued at $ 6,428,538 and options offered at $ 4,382,569. Indira Nooyi has been named the 3rd most powerful woman in the world according to a 2009 Forbes study. 

In January 2008, Nooyi was elected Chairman of the US-India Business Council (USIBC). It is a non-profit business consulting firm representing more than 300 of the world's largest companies trading in India. Nooyi heads the board of directors of USIBC. It is a federation of more than 60 senior executives representing the American industry. He is the President and CEO of Pepsi, one of the world's leading food and beverage companies. Fortune magazine ranked Nooyi among the strongest women in the business for its 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 years.
