Today (December 12, 1921) is Henrietta Swan Leavitt Memorial Day, which accurately determined the distance of the Milky Way galaxy from Earth.
Henrietta Swan
Leavitt was born on July 4, 1868, in Lancaster, Massachusetts. She was the
daughter of George Uroswell Leavitt, a former minister of the embassy. Leavitt's
mother is Enrique Suan Kendrick. He is a descendant of Deacon John Lewitt, a
17th - century English cleaner and tailor who emigrated to Massachusetts Bay.
He attended Oberlin School. He then joined Redcliffe College and graduated in
1892. The college then offered it as a women's college. His degrees
included classical Greek, fine arts, philosophy, semantic geometry, and
calculus. He studied astronomy only in the fourth year of his degree and got
first class in it. He later toured the United States and Europe. She then lost
her hearing.
Early period
film of Harvard calculators. These were female astronomers who worked under
Harvard astronomer Edward Charles Pickering. The group includes Leavitt, Annie
Jump Cannon, Williamina Fleming and Antonia Maury. Edward Charles Pickering
hired female astronomers to measure the brightness of the stars recorded on its
videotapes in the Harvard College Observatory. One of them, Elvis, joined the
Harvard Air Force in 1893. In the early 1900s, women were not allowed to operate
telescopes. He is a "hard worker." Syrian minds are not involved in
recreational sports. He worked tirelessly for his family, life and the embassy.
”
Pickering gave
the study of dynamic galaxies to Elevation. The luminosity (luminosity) of
these galaxies varies with time. Says science writer Jeremy Bernstein.
"Although dynamic galaxies have been eagerly studied by many over the
years, Pickering believes that Elliott will make a significant contribution to
the field when he entrusts the task to Velebit. Mentioned to follow a unique
style: bright ones have a longer oscillation time, and he noted that in 1912 he
was able to more accurately predict the luminosity variables of a typical
luminosity variable.
He used the
simple hypothetical approach that all the celestial bodies at each megalomanic
node are approximately equal distances from the earth. Thus their natural
brilliance could be brought from the visible brightness recorded on the film
plates and from the distance of each muzzle. "Since these movers are
almost the same distance from the Earth, their oscillations are apparently
related to the light they actually emit. The amount of light they emit can be
determined by their mass, density, and surface brightness. Nature is in direct
alignment with luminosity, which is defined as the bandwidth of a galaxy's
radius of radiation. This shows a simple relationship between the brightness of
the speed variables and their oscillation time. ”
Elvis Arvard
developed and refined the Harvard Center for measuring tapes. He then divided
the brightness of the stars into 17 magnitude scales. He first analyzed 299 film
discs from 13 telescopes to build his scale. This criterion was adopted in 1913
by the International Film Plate Dimension Committee. The
oscilloscope-luminosity relationship of celestial variables has been used by
astronomers as a candlestick to predict the distances of long-distance galaxies
that cannot be detected using galaxy parallax imagery. Within a year of Leavitt's
publication of his results, Einar Earthsbringing discovered the distances of
many septic variables in our Milky Way galaxy by Leavitt's, which can see the
distance of any septic.
Cupid variables
were also found in other galaxies, such as the Andhra Pradesh Milky Way, and
their distances were similar to those discovered by Edwin Abul in 1923 and
1924. This gave evidence that the spiral gaseous islets are separate galaxies
at a distance from our Milky Way. Thus, Levitt's invention greatly altered our
sari view. At this point Chapley was able to move the sun from the centre of
the Milky Way into a giant astronomical debate; Abul also thus moved the sun
away from the centre of the Milky Way. The American astronomer Edwin Abulin's
theory of expanding Sagittarius is also the result of Livit's revolutionary
research. "Edwin Abul has got his targets by inserting the key given by Leavitt
into the lock to determine the shape of the universe." In his book
Measuring the Universe, David Echum and Matthew D. H. Clark also write. Abul
often points out that Elvis deserves the Nobel Prize.
He was paid
only $ 10.5 per week during his tenure. But the development of a method of
accurately determining the distance between galaxies has led intellectual
astronomers to understand the structure and size of the galaxy. In his
biographies of Leavitt, George Johnson, there are tall hexagonal monuments all
over the place at the top of the cliff; On top of these is a globe of globes
perched on a cradle of polished marble pillars. The family is buried there with
his maternal uncle Erasmus Darwin Leavitt and the other elevates. The sword
depicting Enrique and her children Meera and Croswell, who died young, is
planted directly below the continent of Australia. On the other side of the
aisle are the tombs of James and William James, which many often visit. "
She has been a
Fellow of the American Pi, Beta, Kappa Association, American University Women's
Association, American Astronomical Society, Astronomical Society, and the
American Institute for Scientific Development, and a qualified member of the
American Dynamic Astronomical Society. Asteroid 5383 Leavitt and Kuzhippallam
Levit are named after him. Swedish mathematician Kosuta Mittaku Elefiller, who
died four years ago, wrote a letter to Chappell requesting more information
about his study of changing celestial bodies, to nominate him for the 1929
Nobel Prize in Physics. He also said that he would send him the history of
Sofia Kovalevskaya, which he wrote. In his reply, Chappelle acknowledges
Levitt's death and points out that the real merit must be found in his
(Chaplain ') explanation for Levitt's discovery. He could not be nominated for
the Nobel Prize at the time, as he would not be awarded the prize after his
death.
Ellen
Gunderson composed the play Quiet Sky. It describes the course of his life
from the day he joined Harvard until his death. George Johnson wrote Ms
Lewitt's biography, The Stars. It is presented by Enrietta Xuan Levitt and
describes a woman's success in science. Although he was not observed at the
same time, his discovery later led astronomers to discover the distance between
the Earth and many other galaxies. He made this discovery in 1908. He explained
his discovery as follows: “It is easy to draw a straight line for each of the
two series of dynamic galaxies, large and small luminous. From that, we can find
a simple correlation between their luminosity and oscillation time. ” Henrietta
Schwann passed away on December 12, 1921, at the age of 53, in Cambridge,
Massachusetts, to accurately determine the distance of the Milky Way galaxy
from Earth.
