Today (December 23, 1962) is the birthday of the Nobel laureate Stefan W. Hell who developed the Super-Resolution Microscope.

Stefan W. Hell was born on December 23, 1962, in Arad, Romania. He received his primary education in the same town. He received his doctorate in physics in 1990 from the University of Heidelberg. From 1991 to 1993 he worked at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory. There he developed the basic principles of the 4-Pi microscope. For the next 3 years, he served as Head of the Department of Medical Physics at the University of Finland. Developed the theory of induced discharge decay (STED Microscopy). There was a lack of clarity in the objects magnified by the optical microscope. With the help of fluorescent molecules, light microscopy technology has proven that it can reach the nano dimension.

He has been one of the directors of the Max Planck Biochemical Institute in Germany since 2002. Established the Department of Nano Biophotonics here. ‘State’ focuses on the development of microscopy and the development of other microscopes. Has published over 200 research papers. In 2000 he was awarded the ‘Auto Hon’ Prize by the International Commission on Optics. Carper has won numerous awards, including 30 awards, including the European Science Prize. He is the Head of the Department of Optical Nanoscopy at the Cancer Research Center of Germany and is a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Heidelberg.

With his contribution, cell division can now be seen at the most microscopic nanoscale with the improved microscope. The microscope, which was limited in its study with the help of fluorescent molecules, has further developed into a nanoscope that examines microscopic molecules. This microscope can identify proteins that are the cause of diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. This nanoscope has spawned many studies to completely prevent drug-free diseases. He was awarded the 2014 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with William Morner for his development of the Super-Resolution Microscope.
